Wesley Chapel Uber and Lyft Accidents
The rideshare industry continues to transform transportation in Florida. It is now common for people to pull out their phones and request a car instead of standing on the sidewalk and flagging down a taxi. However, rideshare drivers can get into a collision like any other motorist on the road, and Uber or Lyft passengers can suffer major, painful injuries in these wrecks. Similarly, motorists can get struck by a speeding Uber or Lyft driver and end up bundled into the back of an ambulance in considerable agony. Contact Anderson & Anderson today. We are a law firm dedicated to helping accident victims following motor vehicle collisions. You can schedule a free consultation with a Wesley Chapel Uber and Lyft accidents lawyer with our office.
How Uber and Lyft Insurance Works
Accident victims call our office with questions about what they should do following a crash. Many of them were passengers in an Uber or Lyft which crashed or went off the road. Or else they were driving down the road when a rideshare vehicle slammed into them.
We recommend fully documenting your injuries and preserving whatever evidence you can from the crash. Hopefully, a police officer came to the scene, so we can start with the police report.
- If the Uber or Lyft driver is at fault for the collision, they should pay compensation to anyone injured in the wreck. This is true if you are a passenger in the rideshare or were struck in another vehicle. The compensation will depend on whether the driver is in the ride cycle:
- If the Uber or Lyft driver was not even logged into the app, then you will have a claim only against their personal insurance.
- If the driver was logged in and searching for rides, then the state minimum is available: $50,000 for bodily injury, up to $100,000 for two or more injured, and $25,000 in property damage.
- If you were a passenger in the Uber/Lyft, or the driver had accepted a ride when crashing into you, then $1 million in insurance is available.
Get correct legal advice by contacting an experienced law firm. Despite the high policy limit ($1 million), Uber and Lyft do not readily agree to settle claims. You will have to go through their insurer, which aggressively scrutinizes all medical bills with a magnifying glass and is all too eager to stamp a claim “Denied!”
Help is available. Anderson & Anderson has negotiated many settlements for rideshare accidents, so we know what evidence is persuasive at proving fault for the collision. We can also discuss whether to submit a claim on your own personal injury protection (PIP) insurance.
